In other news.

My boots have just about had it.  To be expected with cheapo boots.  The biggest problems is that I'd like a pair of boots to replace them, they've been handy so far - solid shoes but suitable enough to wear for dinner.  However they don't seem to be into boots here.  I started looking in Prague when I noticed the holes at the heels, but nothing, and nothing here in Cesky either.  Holding out hope for Budapest, because after that I think the boots might fall to piece completely.

I just about didn't write a blog today.  Not much to say really.  We went to an art gallery this morning for a guy called Egon Schiele.  Hes notorious in Cesky because he lived here for a while until he was chased out of town because they thought he was a pervert.  Looking at his work, he was an amazing artist, but I can understand what they were on about.  He was rather...taken...with the naked form, and apparently he particularly liked drawing naked adolescent girls.  It was good anyway, despite the slightly suspicious artist.  The museum also had an exhibition on high heeled shoes which was very interesting.  Following the cultural changes in shoes and how they related to more broad changes in society.  Gave me an idea for a masters thesis actually.  There was a film crew up there though, so I was a little unsure if we were really allowed to be there.  They also turned the camera on us for a little while, so its possible we'll turn up on some Czech documentary or something.  To go with our appearance on google street view in Berlin.

The weather turned the way it seems to in europe, once again.  So it became incredibly cold and rainy for the afternoon, and after a not quite so great lunch I ended up crashing for an hour.  I thought I should try and check out the castle museum, but we didn't make it up there till 4pm, and it was a little confusing but seemed like we could only do a tour, but tours needed at least four people.  So we abandoned that one in the end.  We'll have to go into the palace in Budapest, because we've stuck to the grounds for all the castles so far.  Which is my favourite part, but definetly worth checking out at least one innards.  Speaking of which we got told tonight that apparently Budapest has great thermal baths, so we might have to go check them out as well.

So perhaps a little wasted time in Cesky, but I figure we need the down time, and I've really enjoyed just being here and wandering the streets and sitting by the river.

Onwards tomorrow.  A night in Vienna, and then if all goes to plan, on to Budapest.  Only 8 or 9 cities to go...in 39 days.  Yikes.
